![]() Unfortunately the only developer left is a dolt and the obvious improvements like proper animation sync and basic graphics fundamentals will never be seen to. The game is too asymmetrical in regard to kill/death - beasts will die 3 or 4 times as much due to the nature of the game, plus the human only vets that ruin it. Much like the poster above will never play beast race and farm newbies with scores like 90/14 and never play for the team or for a fair game. This makes for a game that overall is just not fun unless you're a pro who's played for some years, new players get killed sometimes without a kill themselves and think why bother make myself food for the vets who can't give me a go. I think because vets have figured out how to use macros and block/switch items or weapon making use of the poor animation syncronization where some events only need 1 frame - like relocating. Part of the problem with Savage XR is that a lot of players only play human, which makes games harder to start and fair. ![]() Also do not consider this a review of each game I listed, but rather as me pointing these games out to you for you to check out. I have not provided links because I'm not sure if it counts as advertising or not. Natural Selection: A payed for game on steam that can be considered the setting of aliens meets the gameplay of savage. On steam, I'm not sure if it's dead or not. Nuclear Dawn: A scifi styled game that plays similar to savage. I believe the game is dying but you can still find people to play with. Both sides are pretty similar to each other, unlike in savage the main difference I notice is an cosmetic one. It's free and it plays pretty similar to savage with overhead commanders, research and classes. Worth checking out if you're a fan of the original C&C renegadeĮmpires Mod: A scifi post-apocalyspe styled source engine that is on steam. I believe renegade X doesn't have a commander, but there is still resource harvesting and classes. RenegadeX: A free remake of the original command and conquor Renegade. Also free to play, but I haven't played it. Savage 2: I believe this is the offical sequal to the original savage. Worth checking out if you like the original savage. ![]() I have not played it recently so I do not know if this game is still alive, but it's free and comes with its own launcher and mods. Once installed either leave the Newerth registration blank or enter and register an account name for game statistics recording (wins/looses weapon accuracy etc).SavageXR: this is a free version of the original savage and probably one of the closest thing to this game currently. With each new match all previous progress gets reset. A game can take between 2 and 45 minutes. Each team has one commander, who plays the game like an RTS, and additional players, who play the game like an FPS (but with a third-person mode for melee). The goal of the game is to destroy the primary enemy structure - the "Stronghold"įor the human race, or the "Lair" for the beast race. A single match has two or more teams, which can be either human or beasts. Takes place on one of over 2000 available maps. Savage XR is a unique RTS/FPS hybrid game available as Freeware for Windows, Linux and Mac, that can be played either online, on LAN or offline against bots (without commander). Savage XR is entirely free and non-profit! ![]() Aim of the game is to destroy the enemy base. Savage XR, the successor of the 2003 award winning PC game Savage: The Battle for Newerth, takes the best of the Real-time Strategy, First-person Shooter and Third-person Action genres and blends it into a cohesive, complex and addicting experience.
